Mothers Day

This was a project I did for Solgen Power. At the time this was the biggest project I had ever taken on. But through planning and a great deal of hard work, it turned into a great branding video for the company.

Read more to see how I can do the same for your company.

My First Major Videography Project: A Heartfelt Mother’s Day Commercial

Embarking on my first major videography project was a defining moment in my career. Before this, my experience was limited to small videos for family, social media content, and internal videos for Solgen Power. However, with Mother’s Day approaching in 2021, I was given the exciting challenge of creating a TV and streaming commercial for Solgen Power. This project was not just about branding but also a heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful mothers in our community.

Initial Planning: From Concept to Script

The journey began with thorough planning, a crucial step in any successful videography project. Here’s how I approached it:

  • Scriptwriting: Crafting a compelling script was my first task. I aimed to convey gratitude and warmth, ensuring it would resonate emotionally with our audience. The script needed to be concise yet impactful, capturing the essence of motherhood and the community spirit.

  • Casting: Finding real mothers who were willing to act with their children added authenticity and a personal touch to the commercial. Their genuine interactions were key to making the video relatable and heartfelt.

  • Location Scouting: Identifying beautiful and meaningful locations was essential. I scouted various spots that would enhance the visual storytelling, ensuring each scene looked natural and inviting.

Filming: Bringing the Vision to Life

With the planning complete, the next phase was execution. The filming process took place over two days, with a third day dedicated to voiceover work. Here’s a breakdown of the shoot:

  • Day 1 and 2: Filming: We captured candid interactions between mothers and their children, focusing on genuine emotions. The aim was to create a narrative that felt both personal and universal, celebrating the everyday moments that define motherhood.

  • Day 3: Voiceover Work: Recording the voiceovers added depth and clarity to the commercial. This step was crucial in ensuring the message was conveyed effectively and resonated with viewers.

Post-Production: Crafting the Final Product

Post-production is where the magic truly happens. Despite a tight deadline, I was committed to delivering a high-quality video:

  • Editing: Piecing together the footage to create a cohesive and emotionally resonant story was a meticulous process. I focused on maintaining a smooth flow and ensuring each scene complemented the next.

  • Sound Design: Enhancing the audio quality, including background music and voiceovers, was essential in creating an immersive experience for the audience.

  • Color Grading: Applying color correction and grading gave the video a polished, professional look, enhancing its overall appeal.

Reflection: Growth and Learning

Looking back, this project was a significant learning experience. It taught me invaluable lessons about planning, execution, and post-production. Here are a few key takeaways:

  • Attention to Detail: Every element, from script to final edit, required careful consideration and precision.

  • Storytelling: The power of storytelling in videography cannot be overstated. Crafting a narrative that resonates emotionally with the audience is key to a successful project.

  • Technical Skills: My technical skills in filming, editing, and sound design were put to the test, and I emerged with a deeper understanding of each aspect.

Pride in the Final Product

Despite being my first major project, I am immensely proud of the final product. The commercial successfully conveyed our gratitude to the mothers in our community and helped to brand Solgen Power positively. It stands as a testament to the hard work and dedication that went into every step of the process.

Conclusion: A Milestone Achievement

This Mother’s Day commercial for Solgen Power was more than just a project; it was a milestone in my journey as a videographer. It marked the beginning of my foray into major productions and set the stage for future successes. As I continue to grow and refine my craft, I carry the lessons learned from this project with me, always striving to create content that resonates and inspires.
